Special Notes
-
EBSCO Search data for FY14 was reloaded in April 2015 to reflect the
new way we report EBSCO Search data in the GALILEO Reporting Tool.
-
Starting in FY15 a new stats type was introduced in the GALILEO Usage
Statistics Reporting Tool: Database Sessions. The specific database
vendors we are able to collect this data from are EBSCO (ehost
databases and EBSCO Discovery Service), LexisNexis and SIRS. This
stats type counts the number of user visits to a database interface.
-
In FY15 we started reporting EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) Searches
separately, so there will no longer be an exponential inflation in
Search data for the individual EBSCO databases. Search data for EDS
will be broken out separately and listed in the GALILEO Usage
Statistics Reporting Tool as a separate database (EBSCO Discovery
Service) with the option to view the data by GALILEO user interface
(Scholar, High School, Kid's Page, etc…).
-
From October 2012 to June 2013, EBSCO Search data for individual EBSCO
Databases included the EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) Search profile,
which caused Search data to increase dramatically. When a search is
performed in (EDS), a Search (stats type) is logged in each database
included in the EDS profile. As a result, all searches performed in
EDS are duplicated in the individual databases. For more information,
please see:
Why are the search statistics so high for EBSCO Discovery Service?
Please contact GALILEO staff via the GALILEO
Contact Us
form to request an EBSCO Database Report to see usage data broken
out at the profile level for this timespan.
-
From September 2011 to September 2012, EBSCO usage data for Full Text
and Citations increased dramatically as a result of the transition
from WebFeat to 360Search for GALILEO's Federated Search.
-
After July 2011, ABI/Inform Archive, previously combined into
ABI/Inform Complete, is reported separately.
-
Starting January 2011, ABI/Inform Dateline usage data was combined
with ABI/Inform Complete.
-
From April 2009 - April 2010 full-text usage data increased as a
result of changes in how EBSCO reported full-text usage via their
federated search gateway profile, so full-text usage for this period
increased.
-
Ongoing full-text usage decreased in 2003 as a result of ProQuest
discontinuation for K-12 and in 2004 as a result of ProQuest
discontinuation for the USG.
-
In 2006, as a result of the introduction of federated searching to the
GALILEO interface, Search usage data increased for databases.
